The Dress
Oh! Some say that the wedding is all about the dress! And really, why not?
Tulsa has numerous wedding boutiques, warehouses, rentals, and large dress
shops, not to mention tailors.
There are a few things to remember when looking for a dress:
- Take the appropriate under garments – "tummy tuckers," and backless or
strapless bras. This will help you determine if the shape of the dress
is "right."
- If you have jewelry you already own and wish to wear, take it with you.
It helps you determine if the neckline and necklace work together, earrings as well.
- Think about shoes. When trying on long white dresses, at first shoes are not
an issue; it is when you are at the tailor that shoes become important.
- Take friends! Take Mom! Have fun!
- If you find a dress in the shop that is just right -- sometimes they will lower
the price if you buy "the floor dress" rather then order one to be shipped.
- It is OK, even after trying on everything in the store, to state your price range.
- Shop early – shipping takes time, and tailors need time!
- If your find a basic dress that you love…except for….think about a tailor, add
sleeves, add pearls, shorten…they can work miracles!
- Try on styles that you never thought you would like. Be surprised. Laugh and have fun!
